This video changed my life. Dr. Barkley is a leading ADHD researcher. I instantly connected with his explanation of ADHD as an executive function disorder with "time blindness" that requires things to be visual. It brought huge relief after years of wondering why my brain worked differently than others - and then I began learning how to work with it.

Here is a link to Dr. Barkley's YouTube channel.

For years, I'd build time management systems, lose motivation, and feel like I'd failed. This video showed me that my ADHD brain craves novelty. Repeating the same routine provides less dopamine each time. When that dopamine drops below a certain level, I'm no longer psychologically interested or motivated. Understanding this lifted the burden of feeling like a failure. Now, when a system stops working for me, that's okay - I can switch systems without guilt, document what worked, and cycle back to it when it feels new again.
